Research grant

Annie Antonites received a three-year research grant from the National Research Foundation for her project Biographies of the Hunted: Archaeozoological Approaches to First Millennium AD Game Hunting. The project will use different techniques to understand why the Letaba hunters targeted certain species, how they were hunted and how their carcasses were processed and discarded across the site. Seasonal hunting will also be investigated through stable isotope analysis, in collaboration with the Stable Isotope Laboratory at the University of Cape Town.
